FAQs

• Is this art therapy?

While the process is therapeutic, it is not art therapy, which is a legally separate institution and field of practice. Workshop participants are free to express and create, completely in charge of their own exploration. Art is offered as a means for self-expression and self-exploration, the results are viewed from an artist’s perspective, and are not interpreted or diagnosed.

• Do I have to have art experience?

No previous art experience is necessary! This is a creative arts experience for expressing meaning, not a technical art skills workshop.

• What can I expect?

The Color Workshop atmosphere is reflective, peaceful and supportive. You’ll be guided through the process with simple questions and expressive art exercises as you learn how to spontaneously let paint and abstract shapes express emotion. People are often pleasantly surprised to discover connection between color and their own feelings. The process is spiritual and restorative, offering a fresh way to speak beyond what words can say.

Releasing feelings non-verbally also frees up space for new ways of moving forward in our lives. There will be times of conversation and also times of quiet, and your experience will be captured on canvas. A workshop lasts about 2-3 hours and a list of supplies will be sent upon registration.

• Is this a good fit for me or my group?

Color Workshops are appropriate for business teams, families, book groups, recovery groups, caregivers, those facing chronic medical conditions, and anyone interested in deeper inner work. Minimum of 5 participants to schedule your group workshop. Individual workshops are also available. We can have a conversation to explore the fit further. Please use the contact form below.

• Are the workshops virtual?

Yes. All workshops will be held virtually for the foreseeable future, till it is safe to gather in person.

• What about creative events for larger groups?

Let’s talk and discover whether the workshop process is the right fit for you or your group. Creating an interactive speaking event is another option.
